History

Crosby DeMoss, born July 1, 1911, attended the New York National Academy of Design in the early 1930's. By the late 1930's, he was a member of the "Art Student League" and had published illustrations in "Liberty Magazine" and "Saturday Evening Post".
During World War II in the South Pacific, Crosby was a combat artist for the "Brief", an Air Corps magazine. After the war, he became an Idaho resident where he painted murals and designed interiors for several resorts in Ketchum and Sun Valley, Idaho.

In the 1950's he moved his family to Henderson, Nevada, where he continued to paint murals for the private and business sectors. Currently, there are 2 such paintings referencing the early Las Vegas history that can be seen in the chambers of the Las Vegas City Hall Counsel. Crosby was also the Art Director for "Your Host" and "Las Vegas" magazines. Crosby opened his own graphic arts business in Las Vegas in 1955. He not only painted portraits, but also had advertising accounts throughout the 1960's - Griffith's Hotel Last Frontier, later was known as "The Frontier"; Silver Slipper; and The Dunes Hotel & Country Club.

From the 1960's to 1970's, Crosby had the privilege of painting portraits of the golf champions of the "Tournament of Champions" played at the Desert Inn County Club and later to the La Costa Country Club in Southern California.
Up until his passing in 1988, Crosby continuously painted and was true to the "Golden Age of Illustration".
